Steve & Cindy Berry welcome Southeastern’s newest members, Phil and Barbara Houbler, to the Compass Rose Legacy Society. The Compass Rose Legacy Society is a group of like-minded Southeastern Partners who sense the burden of providing true direction to college age students and choose to formally name Southeastern Free Will Baptist College as beneficiaries in their estate.

Southeastern’s First Lay-leader Church Music Conference

Southeastern’s mission is to train students for church-related ministries. That purpose is born from a belief in the importance of the local church.  Sensing that burden for the local church and its lay leaders, Southeastern has been evaluating how we can better serve the local church.

On Friday, Jan. 27th – Sunday, Jan. 29th, 2017, the Southeastern Music Department is pleased to offer our first Music Enrichment Conference for Lay-leaders. Send your music ministry team members to be revitalized and equipped with ideas to bring back to your church. It will begin on Friday and conclude Sunday afternoon. Your team will be able to see much of what they have learned applied in Faith FWB’s Sunday morning service.

Southeastern Students Share God’s Love with the Community

“Since I have become wheelchair bound, I have been unable to attend my church. You young people bringing the church to me was such a blessing. Your singing, preaching, and Nicodemus touched my heart and encouraged me. Please come back and minister to us again. I’m almost 95 years old and I love the Lord with all my heart. I just want to please Him until He calls me home.” – Ms. Ruth (Resident of Cedar Spring Senior Living Apartments in Wendell)

Accreditation Self-Study Submitted

baer-marcum-self-study-picPresident Jim Marcum is happy to announce another monumental step toward accreditation.

On Monday, October 24th, Academic Dean Dr. Danny Baer submitted our Self-Study which is a major hurdle towards gaining Candidate Status with the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS).  TRACS (www.tracs.org) is a National Accrediting Agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

During the week of November 28th, a TRACS Visiting Evaluation Team, including a representative from TRACS and 5 peer reviewers from other TRACS schools, will visit our campus.
In April, President Marcum and Dr. Baer will appear before the TRACS Commission during their April meeting. If all goes well, Candidate Status with TRACS will be granted at that meeting. Once we receive Candidate Status we will have five years to bring our college to the level to earn Accreditation.
Thank you for your ongoing support with your prayers and donations during these important days.

It is amazing to see what the Lord is doing here at Southeastern Free Will Baptist College, especially in the past few weeks! And part of that is how He continues to use our SE Alumni to be a blessing to the college and the student body. Yesterday, an alumnus pulled up to the cafeteria with a load of brand new custom made furniture for our Campus Corner. It adds so much to our beautiful facilities and this furniture was built to last! So, on behalf of the entire student body here at Southeastern, thank you so much to our Southeastern Alumni family for your generosity and thoughtfulness in funding and constructing this project.  We appreciate all that you do for our college!

After eight years of constant use and enjoyment by the student body, the alumni association has again invested in the next generation of servant leaders by updating the Campus Corner furniture.  Alumni Danny & Susan Bailey (Metal Fred’s Designs) designed and constructed all the steel frames for the tables, benches, and stools.  Then, alumnus Mark & Sonya Cash took over by completing the woodwork out of red oak hardwood.   The alumni funded the project with a little help from the WNAC in honor of Ms. Laurie Horne.

Southeastern’s 2016/17 year continues on an exciting course.

An alumnus, friend, and deeply committed Southeastern supporter has encouraged me to write more regular, periodic updates on the happenings around Southeastern. Honestly, there is a constant stream of inspiring things that happen around here and one does tend to take them for granted when surrounded by the miraculous all the time. And, I do believe what God is doing in the lives of our students is miraculous.

Accreditation Update 10/6/16

We are excited to move one step toward Accreditation Candidate Status.

Today we welcomed Dr. Tanmay Pramanik, Vice President of Institutional Compliance of the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). TRACS (www.tracs.org) is an accrediting agency that is approved by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education in America.

Dr. Pramanik is on campus for a Staff Visit in anticipation of the completion of our Self-Study and subsequent Team Evaluation Visit later this semester. If all goes well we should appear before the TRACS Commission next April to attain Candidate Status. We will then have up to five years to achieve Accreditation Status.

Please pray for Southeastern in this important process.
