The Richard P. Meyer Business Scholarship

Richard P. Myer grew up during the Depression, learning the value of hard work and saving money from a young age. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he returned to work at the Hutton Brickyard, eventually working his way up to become the general manager. The brickyard, known for its innovation and quality bricks, played a significant role in Richard’s life and career.

Richard believed in treating employees fairly and started retirement annuity accounts for them before it was common practice. His business career spanned from 1938 to 1978, during which he emphasized planning ahead and avoiding debt. Guided by the text of Proverbs 16:9, his daughter establishes this scholarship in his honor to help others,

The scholarship logo features a Hutton Brick and a Royal typewriter, symbolizing Richard’s connection to the brickyard office that shaped his life. His legacy of hard work, frugality, and generosity lives on through the scholarship, reflecting his values of planning ahead, paying it forward, and blessing others as he was blessed.

Through the Richard P. Myer Business Scholarship, his daughter seeks not only to honor his memory but also to continue his legacy of helping and blessing others.
