WENDELL, NC—After fourteen years of faithful service, Director of Student Affairs, Professor Ron Davis announced that he will be transitioning to pioneer a new ministry to help remedy the fleeting droves of young people walking away from the Christian faith. Mr. Davis will continue to teach a few classes at Southeastern and will also continue to fulfill his duties in relation to the Youth Aflame Conference.
“Bro. Ron,” as he is affectionately known by his students and many young people, has been the visionary leader behind one of the preeminent youth conferences in the country, Youth Aflame. His positive impact on young people and college age students is evidenced by the many Christian leaders who are effectively serving the Lord around the world. Mr. Davis’ students routinely learn Christian excellence by seeing him minister to children in a VBS, drive a bus for a senior trip, preach on a foreign mission field or teach Hebrew or Greek in the classroom.
“The positive impact that Ron Davis has made on Southeastern and the students he has touched is undeniable,” President Jim Marcum said. Marcum continued, “The mission of Southeastern Free Will Baptist College has been maintained and furthered by Mr. Davis, for which we are eternally grateful.” Speaking in the Southeastern chapel today, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jeff Jones said, “While a little uncertainty lies ahead for Bro. Ron in his new ministry and for Southeastern, I am certain that God’s hand will continue to lead both Bro. Ron and Southeastern.” Jeff Jones added: “Bro. Ron Davis has been a difference maker in the lives of the young men and women on the campus of Southeastern. We are excited for Bro. Ron as he follows our Lord in a new ministry opportunity and yet we are thankful that he will still be teaching on a part-time basis on our faculty.”
Ron and Kristi Davis have two children, Emilee who is a freshman at Southeastern and Alyssa who is a junior at Faith Christian Academy. Alyssa plans to attend Southeastern following high school graduation. Bro. Ron stated to the student body today, “Combining my time as a student and a professor, twenty wonderful years of my life have been spent at Southeastern. I believe in Southeastern’s mission and love Southeastern College today as much as I ever have. I will continue to do everything that I can to further Southeastern’s success.”
I am thankful the Lord led some very courageous preachers to work toward the founding of Southeastern. My Nephew Jay Baines was in the 1st class, our Daughter Gaye (Davis) Wynn in the 2nd class at Virginia Beach, VA. Ronald began the 3rd year at the new campus in Wendell,NC. His Dad, Ronny Davis and I had a heart for the college from Day one!! As a parent, grandmother and Aunt, I’m thankful for all the young men and women sent out to serve
the Lord as a result of this ministry.
I’m thankful the Lord Led Ronald and Kristi there 14years ago. I know they have made a diffence in many lives. I will continue loving and supporting Southeastern . Also will be praying for the many decisions ahead. Also will be praying for the Lord’s leadership in this new opportunity of ministry the Lord has led Ronald to pursue. Mrs Carol (Davis) Atwell
