After almost thirty years of faithful service transporting thousands of Southeastern students and guests across the country, the old faithful Southeastern Bus is being placed up for sale. Mechanically she continues to run and drive, but due to the air conditioning system not being cost-effective to repair, the board of directors has decided to put her out to pasture.

Arizona, here we come! The promotional department has been shopping for a replacement bus for some time. The goal is always to find a flexible seller who will show us a bit of favor. Well, the seller of our new bus happens to be in Flagstaff, Arizona. Our new bus is a 2005 Setra S417, 56 passenger luxury coach. It has 524,000 miles with a Detroit Series 60 motor and an Allison transmission. It runs and drives great. We negotiated the purchase price down to $18,000.

We take possession of our new bus on Wednesday morning, May 19. After a couple of hours of inspection and road testing, Steve & Cindy Berry, and Sarah Marcum will start heading east to 532 Eagle Rock Rd. Wendell, NC. We ask for your prayers for safety. We plan to chronicle our “Road Trip” with an occasional video to allow everyone to share in this historic “Road Trip.”

Many of you have enjoyed riding on the old choir tour bus and would like to help us purchase this new bus. You know what a tremendous blessing it is going to be to our students. We have set a goal to cover the purchase price, the delivery cost, and the lettering of the new bus by the time we arrive back on Southeastern’s campus on Saturday. We are anticipating $24,000 to be our financial need. The Department of Transportation will only let us drive ten hours per day. But, that gives us plenty of time for our Southeastern Partners to jump in and help us. Would you consider taking a moment to make a $25, $50, $100, $500, $1,000, or more contribution? Many hands make light work. We have spent many hours researching to find a quality and cost-effective travel bus. We believe that God has directed us to a wise purchase. Now it’s our Southeastern Family’s opportunity to help us across the finish line.
