Making Him Known

President Marcum is pleased to announce that more students and families are feeling the benefits of Southeastern’s accreditation status. On April 25, 2017,  Southeastern Free Will Baptist College was granted Candidate Status by the Transnational Association of Colleges and Schools (TRACS).  Two years ago, one of our current student’s mom had applied for a loan from her retirement and because we were not accredited, she was denied. She recently checked again and because of our accreditation status (candidate) and recognition by the United States Department of Education, she now has that option!  She was very thankful!!

Crystal Ferrell has another unique story about her experience. “After spending twenty years as a stay-at-home wife and mother, I felt the Lord leading me into Christian education. I enrolled in a dual partnership program with Craven Community College and East Carolina University for middle grades education. I had taken a few classes at Southeastern after high school graduation. As part of the enrollment process, I requested my transcripts from Southeastern hoping that maybe something would transfer. I was so excited when I received the letter stating that all my classes had transferred. This was encouraging to me because it gave me a jump start to reaching the goals the Lord has for me. The steps that Southeastern has taken to become accredited will benefit many students in the years to come, and allow them more opportunities to further their career and serve the Lord in the area He has called them.

TRACS is recognized by both the United States Department of Education (USDOE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as a national institutional accrediting agency for Christian post-secondary institutions, colleges, universities, and seminaries. With Candidate Status, we are officially a member of TRACS and will have up to 5 years to achieve Accredited Status. Our goal is to accomplish this in 3 years.”

A part of every believer’s day should be spent in thanking God for His bountiful blessings. We at Southeastern Free Will Baptist College feel that we have been especially blessed. Our first blessing is in relation to how God has enabled us to train and send so many Christian workers into the local church. Now, that special group of Southeastern alumni are training and sending workers who have a heart “To Know Him and To Make Him Known.”

On behalf of President Marcum, the Board of Directors, the Faculty and Staff, and the Student Body, we say THANK YOU for all you have done and all you will do. Your love, prayers, and donations continue to reap a harvest through the ministry of our students and alumni.  We all send our love back to you on this Thanksgiving!

It is amazing to see what the Lord is doing here at Southeastern Free Will Baptist College, especially in the past few weeks! Part of that is how He continues to use our SE Alumni to be a blessing to the college and the student body.

Yesterday, an alumnus pulled up to the cafeteria with a load of brand new custom made furniture for our Campus Corner. It adds so much to our beautiful facilities and this furniture was built to last! So, on behalf of the entire student body here at Southeastern, thank you so much to our Southeastern Alumni family for your generosity and thoughtfulness in funding and constructing this project.  We appreciate all that you do for our college!

After eight years of constant use and enjoyment by the student body, the alumni association has again invested in the next generation of servant leaders by updating the Campus Corner furniture.  Alumni Danny & Susan Bailey (Metal Fred’s Designs) designed and constructed all the steel frames for the tables, benches, and stools.  Then, alumnus Mark & Sonya Cash took over by completing the woodwork out of red oak hardwood.   The alumni funded the project with a little help from the WNAC in honor of Ms. Laurie Horne.
